Aortic Aneurysm Conventional Surgery

This is one of the two main forms of treatment of aortic aneurysms. In this traditional technique, there is need for opening the thorax or abdomen and transiently interrupt the blood flow in such aortic segment. In order to be able to replace the dilated portion with a tissue prosthesis, which sutured (sewed) on the place. There is need for general anesthesia and, as the procedure is large-sized, the intestine stays paralyzed for some days, the recovery is slower, and the hospitalization time is longer.
