The cholesterol test is a blood exam that measures the total cholesterol level and its two fractions: high-density cholesterol (HDL or good cholesterol) and low-density cholesterol (LDL or bad cholesterol).

The HDL is protective, while the LDL is related to the acceleration of the atherosclerosis process, which is the aging process of arteries, where fat plaques are forming inside them as the time passes.
